- Preheat the oven to 425F. Slice the potatoes and onions separately with the medium slicing disc of a food processor. Spread 1/4 of the potatoes in a greased 1 1/2 qt casserole dish 2 1/4 inches deep and top with 1/3 of the onions, 1 tablespoon butter, 1/4 teaspoon savory, and salt and pepper. Continue layering the ingredients, ending with a layer of potatoes drizzled with butter and sprinkled with the seasonings. Bake in the preheated oven until the top is browned and the potatoes are tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
