Warm Apple-Buttermilk Custard Pie image

A wonderful apple pie just in time for fall! The key to both a flaky piecrust and crisp streusel topping is to keep them as cold as possible before putting them into the oven. I stumbled across this recipe several years ago when I was doing my favorite thing; searching for recipes! And, it has proved worthy! Borrowed photo....

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my pie crust turned out soggy. The filling was good, but the crust was a major disappointment.

This pie was a bit too tart for my taste, but I think that's because I used Granny Smith apples. Next time I'll use a sweeter variety of apple.
