1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup half-and-half cream
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
