This is so easy. Kids can make this, you can make this camping. There is no buttering and flouring of a cake pan. It is literally a "stir and bake" cake....REALLY!

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 c flour, all purpose
2 c sugar
6 Tbsp cocoa powder, unsweetened
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp vinegar, white
1/4 c oil
2 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Sift together the first 5 ingredients, flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda, (all the dry) into a 9 X 13 inch baking pan.
  • 2. In a large 4 cup measuring cup, stir together the next 4 ingredients, vanilla, vinegar, oil and water (all the wet).
  • 3. With a fork or spoon, stir the water mixture into the flour mixture, IN the baking pan.
  • 4. Bake in pre-heated 350 degree oven, on the middle rack, (if you remember to put the rack in the middle, otherwise don't worry about it) for 35-45 minutes, or until tooth pick comes out clean. Cool about 10 minutes.
  • 5. You can dust with Powdered sugar, and a couple raspberries on the side, or not. You can serve it warm with ice cream, or not. With cool whip or whipping cream, Hot or Warm or Cold, fancy or plain, or NOT. How ever, where ever, Really, and it tastes really good, all by itself.
  • 6. ENJOY!

This cake was a disaster! It didn't rise properly and the frosting was too runny. I had to throw the whole thing away.

Not a fan of this cake. The texture was dense and the flavor was bland. I won't be making it again.

Just made this cake and it's delicious! The vinegar gives it a really interesting flavor. I used chocolate frosting instead of vanilla and it was perfect.

Followed the recipe to a T and it turned out perfectly. The cake was moist and fluffy, and the frosting was rich and creamy. Will definitely make this again!
