Vidalia Onion Casserole image

I used this at Thanksgiving to switch things up a bit & replace the usual green bean casserole. If your family likes onions, it will be a big success. BTW don't think about the calories... ;-)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 large vidalia onions [sliced thin]
1/2 c butter, room temperature
1/2 c sour cream
1/2 c grated parmesean cheese
1 c ritz crackers [crumbled] -or-
1 c french's french fried onions [crumbled]

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • 2. Melt the butter in large skillet. Add seperated onion slices. Saute until soft.
  • 3. Remove from heat.
  • 4. Add sour cream.
  • 5. Mix thoroughly with spoon.
  • 6. Scoop 1/2 of the onion mixture into a small greased casserole dish.
  • 7. Top with 1/2 [1/4 cup] of the grated parmesean cheese.
  • 8. Layer with remaining onion mixture.
  • 9. Sprinkle on rest [1/4 cup] grated parmesean cheese.
  • 10. Spriknkle top with crumbled Ritz crackers or crumbled French fried onions.
  • 11. Bake for 30 minutes.
  • 12. Enjoy!
  • 13. Note: If you're on a date, bring your toth brush or mouth wash! Onion after-breath can kill a kiss!
