Upside-Down Plum Cake image

I used fresh ripe plums for this recipe, during plum season. The cake is a very soft sponge cake once taken out of the oven, and (in my opinion) It tastes eveb better the following day, especially if cold/refridgerated. It's important to let it rest in the tin for the allocated time (last two steps) - otherwise the cake may collapse.

185 g unsalted butter
2 cups caster sugar
1 tablespoon honey
300 g plums, stoned and halved (or whole tinned plums)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar or 1 teaspoon vanilla powder

1/2 cup milk

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my cake didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. The cake was dry and the plums were too tart.

I'm not a big fan of plums, but I decided to try this cake anyway. I was pleasantly surprised! The plums added a nice tartness to the cake and the cake itself was very moist and flavorful.

This cake is a bit too sweet for my taste, but it's still very good. I think I'll try reducing the amount of sugar next time.

I've made this upside-down plum cake several times and it's always a hit. The cake is dense and moist, and the plums add a lovely tartness. I like to serve it with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

This upside-down plum cake was an absolute delight! The combination of sweet, juicy plums and the buttery, nutty cake was heavenly. The cake was moist and fluffy, with a beautiful golden crust. I will definitely be making this recipe again!
