Turmeric Cake - Sfoof image

This is a Lebanese (Middle Eastern) cake-like dessert. Easy and delicious. Originally Sfoof is made with semolina but this is an easier version and for me, a much tastier one. Give it a try!

3 c all purpose flour
2 c sugar
3/4 c vegetable oil
1 1/4 c milk
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground turmeric
2 tsp ground aniseed
1 tsp rose water
3/4 tsp orange blossom water
1 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds
2 Tbsp tahini paste

Steps:

  • 1. -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. -Grease an 11 inch pan with tahini paste. -Mix all ingredients together, leaving the sesame seeds aside. -Pour the mixture in the baking pan, then sprinkle the top with the sesame seeds. -Bake until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
