Time 20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 tuna steaks (about 2 pounds total weight)
Juice 1 lemon
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 large shallots, minced
1 small clove garlic, unpeeled and left whole
2 tablespoons butter
3 to 4 pounds sorrel
1/2 to 3/4 cup chicken stock
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Wipe the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Squeeze lemon juice on both sides, brush with oil and set aside.
  • Preheat broiler to high.
  • Meanwhile, in a heavy saucepan or skillet, soften the shallots and the garlic in the butter. Add the sorrel and cook, stirring frequently, for one to two minutes.
  • Add the chicken stock and cook a further five minutes. Remove from the stove. Peel the garlic and add the flesh to the sorrel. Puree with the sorrel mixture in a blender or food processor.
  • Place the sauce in a small saucepan and keep warm.
  • Meanwhile broil the tuna for three to five minutes on each side, or until medium rare. Serve immediately, passing the sauce separately.

Overall, this was a good recipe. The tuna steak was cooked well and the sorrel sauce was tasty. However, I found the dish to be a bit bland. I would recommend adding some additional seasonings to the tuna steak before cooking.

This was the first time I've ever cooked tuna steak, and it turned out great! The sorrel sauce was a bit intimidating to make, but it was worth the effort. I'll definitely be making this again.

This dish was a bit too fishy for my taste. The sorrel sauce was good, but I think I would have preferred it with a different type of fish.

I followed the recipe exactly and the tuna steak came out perfectly cooked. The sorrel sauce was a bit too tangy for my taste, but I was able to tone it down by adding a little bit of cream.

This tuna steak with sorrel sauce was an absolute delight! The fish was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was tangy and flavorful. I served it with roasted potatoes and asparagus, and it was a hit with my family.
