Torta De Carne Asada image

I've eaten tortas and I wasn't a big fan of the bread that was being used (French). The bread is too thick and I couldn't taste the filling. This is my version of the torta.

Number Of Ingredients 15

1/4 c sliced onions
1 Tbsp lime juice
1 tsp minced garlic
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp mexican oregano
1 tsp ground cumin
1 serrano pepper minced
1/2 lb thinly sliced tenderized chuck
1/4 c cilantro, fresh minced
1 Tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 avocado
1 Tbsp ricotta cheese
1 wheat thin rounds

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium heated skillet add olive oil, onions, and garlic. Saute until slightly translucent, add meat, lime juice, serrano pepper, chili powder, oregano, salt/pepper, and cumin. Cook to your liking(medium-rare etc).
  • 2. Place wheat thin round halves on a cookie sheet and heat in oven until crisp.
  • 3. Add asada strips on each halve with ricotta cheese, avocado, and serve.
