I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC where they have a lovely tea room. This is one of the recipes used over the years at their Afternoon Tea.

I'm not a big fan of scones, but these were actually pretty good. I might make them again.

These scones are a bit too sweet for my taste. I prefer a more savory scone.

Not bad, but not great either. The scones were a bit dry and crumbly.

These scones were absolutely divine! The texture was light and fluffy, and the flavor was rich and buttery. I added a bit of lemon zest to the dough, which gave them a lovely citrusy flavor.
