Categories     Dessert     Bake     Nutmeg

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

¼ cup (½ stick) unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup packed light-brown sugar
1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon salt
4 medium Rome Beauty apples, skin peeled in a spiral

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, stir together butter, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. 2. Scoop out the core of each apple with a melon baller, being careful not to go through the bottom; discard cores. Fill each apple with oat mixture, dividing evenly. Transfer apples to a 9-inch square non-reactive baking dish. Add 1 cup water to the dish to cover bottoms of apples by about 1/2 inch. Cover dish with aluminum foil. Bake until apples are soft but not mushy, 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm.

This recipe is a waste of time and ingredients. The apples were mushy and the filling was flavorless.

I wouldn't recommend this recipe. The apples were not cooked evenly and the filling was too sweet.

I followed the recipe exactly but the apples didn't turn out as I expected. They were a bit dry and the filling was bland.

The filling was a bit too runny for my liking, but the apples were still tasty.

I tried this recipe and the apples were a bit too tart for my taste. I think I'll use a sweeter variety of apples next time.

I'm not a big fan of apples, but these baked apples were delicious. The cinnamon and sugar filling really made them.

These baked apples were a hit! The filling was sweet and gooey, and the crust was perfectly flaky. I'll definitely be making them again.
