Number Of Ingredients 11

1 recipe - 3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1.2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 recipe (for frying) canola oil
10 slices white bread
1 recipe jam, strawberry or any flavor
1 recipe (for dusting) confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a bowl, stir together eggs, milk, vanilla, and sugar until well blended and sugar is dissolved. In a separate bowl, mix flour with baking powder and salt.
  • Gradually stir flour mixture into egg mixture until no lumps remain. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Make sandwiches with the bread, spreading jam evenly in the center. Trim away crusts, and cut each sandwich into quarters, wiping away any excess jam. Dip each quarter into batter, coating completely.
  • Working in batches to avoid overcrowding, fry sandwiches for 1 to 3 minutes, or until puffy and golden brown. Drain and cool on a paper towel-lined wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • Serve warm.

These jelly doughnuts were a complete disaster. The dough was too sticky and impossible to work with. I ended up throwing the whole batch away.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my doughnuts turned out dry and crumbly. I'm not sure what went wrong.

These jelly doughnuts were a bit too sweet for my taste, but my kids loved them. They're also very easy to make, so I'll probably make them again for my kids' parties.

I was a bit hesitant to try this recipe because I'm not a big fan of jelly doughnuts. But I'm so glad I did! These doughnuts were amazing! The dough was light and fluffy, and the jelly filling was perfectly sweet and tart.

I've made jelly doughnuts before, but this recipe was by far the easiest. The dough came together quickly and easily, and the doughnuts fried up perfectly. The jelly filling was also very easy to make and added the perfect amount of sweetness.
