Spicy Sausage Queso image

A big hit at all my parties! Serve with garlic toast, garlic pita chips, or tostados. (Recipe and pic were found on the Johnsonville Sausage site)

Number Of Ingredients 8

16 oz. package of ground italian sausage (medium to hot)
2 lbs melting cheddar cheese or velveeta (i prefer cheddar)
16 oz jar of chunky salsa
1 t. fennel seed crushed
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. anise seed, crushed
1/4 tsp. dried basil
corn chips, tostados, garlic toast, garlic pita chips etc for dipping

Steps:

  • 1. In a skillet cook and crumble sausage, till browned and no longer pink. Drain
  • 2. Put cheese in a large microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 6 minutes or until melted. (Stir every 2 minutes)
  • 3. Add salsa and stir. Add seasonings and sausage. Microwave 2 more minutes or until heated thru.
