Yield Makes 2-4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

6 large cloves garlic
2 tbsp fresh ginger
2 large shallots
2 green chilies
12 stems fresh cilantro
3-4 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp mustard seed
juice of one lemon
juice of one lime
1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp
4-8 skewers, depending on the size of the shrimp

Steps:

  • Cut the garlic, ginger, shallots, green chilies, and cilantro into pieces. Throw them all into a food processor with the olive oil and grind to a paste. Move the paste to a medium-sized bowl and add the red chili powder, salt, mustard seed, and lemon and lime juices. Stir to mix. Mix the shrimp into the paste and allow to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 90 minutes. After marinating, thread shrimp onto skewers and grill over medium heat until shrimp are cooked through and bits of garlic and ginger begin to brown. For less heat, omit the green chilies.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover shrimp. I had some shrimp that I needed to use up and this dish was the perfect solution.

I'm not a huge fan of spicy food, but I thought this dish was just the right amount of spicy. It had a nice kick without being overpowering.

This dish was a bit too salty for my taste, but I think that's because I accidentally added too much salt. Other than that, it was a great recipe.

I didn't have any lime juice on hand, so I used lemon juice instead. It turned out just as good!

This dish was a bit too spicy for me, but my husband loved it. I would recommend using less cayenne pepper if you don't like spicy food.
