Spicy Currant Sauce for Ham image

This was handed down through the women in my family. We all love it, but I'm always amazed how many guests beg for the recipe saying that they have never tasted anything like it. The cloves and Worcestershire sauce give it a lovely kick. It keeps really well, so can be made days in advance. It is also a great (and easy) holiday gift.

I would recommend making this sauce ahead of time and letting it sit for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld together.

This sauce is a great way to use up leftover ham. It's also a great way to add some flavor to a boring ham sandwich.

I found that the sauce was a bit too thick. I would recommend adding a little bit of water or broth to thin it out.

This sauce is a bit too sweet for my taste. I would recommend using less sugar or omitting it altogether.

I'm not a huge fan of spicy food, but this sauce was surprisingly mild. It had just the right amount of heat to give it a little kick without being overpowering.
