Sour Cream Spice Cookies image

The American Woman's Cook Book 1946 I added about a cup of raisins to half of the batter. There are delish!!! They baked up nice and soft.

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 c sifted cake flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cloves ( i use 1/4t)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 c shortening
2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs well beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 c sour cream
2 c raisins (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Measure the flour after you have sifted it. Then, sift flour, soda, spices and salt together.
  • 2. Cream shortening with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  • 3. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour cream in small amounts. End with flour. Mix well.
  • 4. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheets and bake in moderate oven (350 F) 12 minutes.
