A favorite meal we've had in my family for as long as I can remember. Country food at it's finest. Enjoy!

Time 1h20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

oil for browning - 2 - 3 tablespoons
3 lb pork chops - boneless or bone in - i even use country ribs
1 c sour cream
garlic salt & pepper - to taste
1 1/2 Tbsp flour
1 pkg lipton onion soup mix
2 1/2 c boiling water

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Season chops and brown on both sides in oil, in a large skillet.
  • 2. Remove chops and place in a 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • 3. In the skillet you browned the chops in, whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. If not enough fat add a little more. Now, add the soup mix and water. Whisk so as not to have lumps. Cook until thickening some.
  • 4. Pour onion mixture over the chops. Cover with foil and bake for 30 - 35 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 30 - 35 minutes or until chops are tender.
  • 5. Remove chops to serving plate. To the gravy in the pan whisk in the sour cream, until smooth.
  • 6. Serve the gravy over the chops. I also make mashed potatoes. It's delicious served over them as well. Enjoy!!

These chops were a bit overcooked, but the flavor was still good. I'll be sure to cook them for less time next time.
