Time 2h20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/2 c bread flour
2 1/2 tsp dry, jarred yeast
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 c warm water (120 degrees)
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp honey
1 egg yolk
1 egg white
parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • 1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together 1 cup of the flour with 2 1/2 tsp. dry yeast, and salt, with a wire whisk.
  • 2. In another bowl, combine, warm water, olive oil, honey, and egg yolk.
  • 3. Add to dry mixture and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowls constantly. Increase the speed to high and continue to beat for 3 minutes. Using a spoon, stir in remaining flour.
  • 4. Turn dough onto a floured surface, and knead until dough is smooth and elastic, about 5-8 minutes.
  • 5. Place in a greased bowl, turning to coat dough completely. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. (About an hour.)
  • 6. Punch dough down. Cover with damp cloth and let rest 10 minutes.
  • 7. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  • 8. Divide dough in half. Divide each portion into 8 pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece into a 6-8 inch rope and place 2 inches apart on baking dish. Cover and let rise 45 minutes more.
  • 9. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • 10. Beat together egg white and 1 tbsp. water with a wire whisk. Brush over breadsticks and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  • 11. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
