Smoked Sausage, Apples and Sauerkraut image

This dish has German roots, but is widely prepared in Switzerland. I'm not sure exactly where I found this recipe, but it's been DH and grandson's favorite deer hunting camp meal for many years. It cooks in one skillet so clean up is minimal.

This dish was a disappointment. The smoked sausage was tough and the apples were mushy. I won't be making this again.

This dish was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think that's because I used a sweet apple. I would try using a tart apple next time.

I'm not a big fan of sauerkraut, but I loved this dish! The smoked sausage and apples were a great combination, and the sauerkraut added a nice tang without being overpowering.

This dish was easy to make and turned out great! I made a few substitutions, like using chicken sausage instead of smoked sausage and adding some diced carrots. It was a hit with my family!

This dish was a bit bland for my taste, but I think that's because I used a mild smoked sausage. I would try using a more flavorful sausage next time.

This dish was a bit too sour for my taste, but my husband loved it. I think I would use less sauerkraut next time.
