Slow Cooker Cola Chicken image

Definitely kid approved :) I usually serve it over rice or egg noodles. I have also used a whole chicken, bone-in chicken legs, or chicken breast; but the boneless skinless chicken thighs just work out better for my family's tastes

Categories     Chicken

Time 4h40m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2-3 lb bonless, skinless chicken thighs
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
1 can(s) cola (regular- diet- caffeine free all okay)
1 c ketchup
1/4 c yellow mustard

Steps:

  • 1. Place chicken thighs in the crock pot
  • 2. Sprinkle the onion evenly over the chicken
  • 3. In a small bowl stir together the soda, mustard, and ketchup.
  • 4. Pour cola mixture over the chicken and onions.
  • 5. Set crock pot on high for 4 - 5 hours (or until chicken is tender- I usually do the 'fork test'.. when it breaks apart fairly easily with a fork I call it done)

The chicken was a bit dry. I think I'll add some extra liquid to the slow cooker next time.

This dish is a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I'll try using a different type of soda next time.

I'm not a big fan of cola, but I really enjoyed this dish. The cola flavor is not overpowering and it really adds to the overall flavor of the chicken.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover chicken. I often make a big batch of chicken on the weekend and then use it to make this dish during the week.

I love the combination of flavors in this dish. The cola adds a subtle sweetness that really complements the savory chicken.

I was a bit skeptical about using cola in a chicken dish, but I'm so glad I tried it! The cola added a subtle sweetness and depth of flavor that really took the dish to the next level.

This dish was incredibly easy to make and the results were amazing! The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and the sauce was rich and flavorful.
