SHOO FLY PIE image

THIS RECEIPE COMES FROM THE PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH PEOPLE

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 c dark molasses
1 tsp baking soda
1 c warm water
2 unbaked pie shell
2 c flour
1/2 c sugar
3/4 tsp baking soda
5 Tbsp shortening

Steps:

  • 1. MAKE CRUST AND PUT IN TWO 9-INCH PIE SHELLS AND CHILL. MIX FLOUR SIFTED WITH SUGAR AND 3/4 TEASPOON SODA. CUT IN SHORTENING. MIX THE 1 TEASPOON SODA WITH WARM WATER. ADD MOLASSES AND STIR TO MIX WELL. POUR INTO CRUST LINE PANS AND SPRINKLE WITH FLOUR AND SHORTENING MIXTURE.
  • 2. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR 35-40 MINUTES OR UNTIL DONE.
