Savory Rice With Mushrooms (Johnny Cash's Mother's Recipe) image

Johnny Cash was my husband's cousin and I was lucky enough to obtain a cookbook of Johnny's mother's recipes titled, "Favorite Recipes From Mama Cash's Kitchen." I've been asked to post some of the recipes from the book and this is one of them.

This recipe is a bit bland for my taste. I think I'll add some more spices next time.

I love this recipe! It's so simple and easy to make, and it's always a crowd-pleaser. I usually double the recipe so I have plenty of leftover rice for lunch the next day.

This recipe was a bit too salty for my taste. I think I'll use less bouillon next time.

Meh. I wasn't impressed with this recipe. The rice was mushy and the mushrooms were rubbery. I think I'll stick to my usual rice recipe.

Not bad! I thought the rice was a bit bland, but the mushrooms were delicious. I added a bit of salt and pepper to the rice and it was much better. I also think it would be good with some fresh herbs, like parsley or chives.

This recipe is a keeper! The rice was flavorful and the mushrooms added a delicious umami depth. I used a mix of shiitake and cremini mushrooms, and they both worked well. I also added a bit of garlic and onion for extra flavor. Will definitely make
