Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups white sugar
2 egg yolks
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 (10 ounce) jar seedless raspberry jam
4 egg whites
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups finely chopped walnuts

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 15-1/2 x 10-1/2 x 1 inch jellyroll pan.
  • Cream butter, 1/2 cup of the sugar and egg yolks until well blended. Add flour and mix well. Pat dough evenly into bottom of prepared pan and bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.

These bars were a complete disaster! The meringue didn't set properly and the whole thing was a sticky mess. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

The meringue on these bars was a bit too soft for my liking. I think I'll try baking them for a few minutes longer next time.

These bars are a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I'll try reducing the amount of sugar next time.
