Rapid Rise Whole Wheat Bread (Bread Machine) image

I got the idea from http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=449535 but this makes a light soft loaf that fills a 1 1/2 lb. loaf pan. Note: The rapid bake cycle on my bread machine is approx. 2 hours long. I have noticed that some bread machines have a super rapid cycle of approx. 1 hour. I doubt this recipe would work on a super rapid cycle.

I had a little bit of trouble getting the bread out of the bread machine pan. I think I'll try greasing the pan next time.

This bread is a bit bland for my taste. I like to add a little bit of honey or molasses to the dough to give it a sweeter flavor.

This bread freezes really well. I like to bake a few loaves at a time and then freeze them. That way, I always have fresh bread on hand.

I've tried this recipe with different types of flour, including all-purpose flour and bread flour. I find that bread flour gives the bread a chewier texture.

This bread is a bit denser than some other whole wheat breads, but I personally like that. It's very filling and satisfying.
