I was making a few pigs in a blanket for my preschooler for lunch and decided to make a pizza version for myself. The best part is that it is so versatile. Stuff it how you like it:)

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can(s) refrigerated crescent rolls (8 crescents)
8 slice deli-style pepperoni (or pep in bag, will just need more)
2 string cheese (sliced or shredded mozz will work)
italian seasoning
red pepper flakes
small jar of pizza sauce (and/or ranch)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Slice string in four quarters. You should have 8 pieces total after slicing.
  • 2. Open crescent rolls. Unroll and separate at perforations. Place two slices of pepperoni on top the crescent. Then place one string cheese quarter on the pepperoni. Sprinkle with italian seasoning and red pepper flakes to your liking. Roll wide end to pointy end. Repeat for all crescents. Place on a foil lined cookie sheet.
  • 3. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until crescents are golden brown. (this would probably be good with some garlic butter on top before baking)

These pizza crescents were a bit bland. I think I would add more spices next time.

I had a hard time getting the dough to rise. I think I might have used too much flour.

These pizza crescents were a bit too greasy for my taste. I think I would try using less butter next time.

I'm not a huge fan of pizza crescents, but I thought these were pretty good. The dough was flaky and the filling was cheesy and flavorful.
