I got this off of fb, it is our absolute fave apple recipe of all time. Hubby likes it for breakfast.

Categories     Fruit Breakfast

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 pkg pillsbury crescent rolls
2 apples (your choice)
1 c butter
1 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 dash(es) cinnamon
12 oz mountain dew (trust me)

Steps:

  • 1. Peel and core apples. Cut into 8 slices each
  • 2. Open and separate crescent rolls. Roll each apple slice in 1 crescent roll.
  • 3. Place into a 9x13 baking dish.
  • 4. Melt butter. Add sugar, barely stir in. Add Vanilla.
  • 5. Pour over apples.
  • 6. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan.
  • 7. Sprinkle liberally with cinnamon.
  • 8. Bake at 350* for 40 minutes. This is very easy to cut in 1/2, making only 8 dumplings. It is a very forgiving recipe, you can use Diet Dew/Sprite, Sierra Mist, Splenda, oleo, low fat crescent rolls. We like it best full fat/sugar and flavor.

These apple dumplings are a great make-ahead dessert. I can make them the night before and then just pop them in the oven when I'm ready to serve them.

I made these apple dumplings with different types of apples and they all turned out great. I used Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady apples.

These apple dumplings are a great way to use up leftover pie crust. I always have a few scraps of pie crust left over, so it's nice to have a recipe that I can use them for.

These apple dumplings were a hit with my family! The apples were perfectly tender and the crust was flaky and golden brown. I will definitely be making these again.
