Pineapple Orange Pretzel Salad image

This is really more of a desert, it is light and refreshing.

1 1/2 c crushed pretzels
3/4 c melted margarine or butter
41/2 Tbsp granulated sugar
8 oz cream cheese
8 oz cool whip
1 c granulated sugar
6 oz orange jello
2 c boiling water
20oz can(s) crushed pineapple in own juice

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray 13x9 glass baking dish. Combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 4Tbs. Sugar. Press evenly into bottom of prepared pan. Bake for10 minutes. Remove to cool completely.
  • 2. Combine softened cream cheese and remaining sugar, mix with hand mixer until smooth. Add Cool whip and mix til blended. Spread mixture over cooled pretzel crust. Refrigerate.
  • 3. Mix boiling water and Jello in separate bowl til dissolved and stir in pineapple. Refrigerate until slightly thickened. Spread over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate until set.
  • 4. May use other combinations of fruit and jello. May use artificial, granulated sweetener to replace sugar.
