Crust:
1 packaged yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 egg
Filling:
2/3 cup of reserved cake mix
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups dark corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
1 cup chopped pecans

Press into pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 -20 minutes until golden brown. Prepare filling. In a large bowl, combine all filling ingredients, except pecans. Beat with a mixer on medium speed for 1-2 minutes. Pour filling over partially baked crust. Sprinkle with the one cup of pecans. Return to oven for 30-35 minutes until filling is set. Cool and cut into bars.

These bars were a complete disaster. The crust was too crumbly, and the filling was too runny.

I had some trouble getting the bars to set properly. I think I might have overcooked them.

I found the crust to be a bit dry. I think I'll try adding a little bit of butter next time.

These bars are a great way to use up leftover pie filling. I always have a few cans of filling in my pantry, so I can whip up a batch of these bars whenever I need a quick and easy dessert.

These bars are the perfect combination of sweet and salty. The pecan pie filling is perfectly balanced by the buttery crust.

I've been making this recipe for years, and it's always a crowd-pleaser. The pecan pie filling is rich and decadent, and the crust is flaky and delicious.
