Peach Kuchen image

This is a recipe my grandma that my mother made, especially in the summer when fresh peaches were available. When my parents lived on a farm, this recipe was made often to go with coffee. It was served to my dad and brother whenever they took a break from working in the field.

Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 c flour
1/4 c sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 c butter, cold
2 c fresh peaches ( sliced)
1/2 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 egg yolks
1 c sour cream

Steps:

  • 1. Combine flour, 1/4 c. sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until the appearance of crumbs. Pat in a greased 9 x 13" pan. I usually don't pat crust up edges, but you can decide how you want to have your crust. Arrange peaches in rows over crust. Stir 1/2 c. sugar and the cinnamon together and sprinkle over fruit.
  • 2. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. While this is baking, beat egg yolks and blend in cream. Spoon over partially baked kuchen and continue baking for 20 minutes longer or until egg mixture is set.

The crust on this kuchen was a bit dry, but the peaches were delicious. I think I'll try a different crust recipe next time.

This kuchen was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think that's because I used ripe peaches. Next time, I'll use slightly less ripe peaches.
