Peach Dumplings (Sugar free) image

This recipe is a camping favorite, because it's super easy to make in a dutch oven. It works well on the stove top, too. This is a big family favorite and there are never any leftovers!

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 can(s) unsweetened peaches, do not drain
1 1/2 c milk
1 stick butter or margarine
1 Tbsp corn starch
1/2 c splenda
1 can(s) refrigerated biscuits

Steps:

  • 1. Roll each biscuit somewhat flat (not going for prettiness or evenness since we are making dumplings). Slice each rolled biscuit into bite-sized strips. In a dutch oven, combine the peaches, juice, milk, Splenda, and butter.
  • 2. Heat over medium heat just to boiling. When the mixture begins to boil, drop the dumplings in one at a time. Let simmer about 15 minutes. If the juice is not thick enough for your taste, mix a small amount of corn starch with cold water and stir in the hot mixture until thickened to suit you.

The dumplings were a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think that's just because I used ripe peaches. I'll try again with less ripe peaches next time.

These dumplings were a bit bland. I think I'll add some spices next time.
