Party Potatoes image

This is a recipe my family has fairly frequently at large family gatherings. It came from a friend of my grandmother. Please note that we also typically halve this recipe. Also note, prep time does not include time for boiling potatoes and mashing them.

Categories     Mashed Potatoes

Time 35m

Yield 10-12 cups, 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

5 lbs potatoes, mashed
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a baking dish. I typically use a casserole dish of sufficient size to hold all the ingredients.
  • Bake uncovered for 30 minutes at 350.
  • NOTE: My family generally puts shredded cheese on top of the potatoes before baking so that there is a nice layer of melted cheese on top of the potatoes.
  • NOTE: Serving size/amount is a guess. I know that a halved recipe more than sufficiently feeds 4 people with quite a few leftovers.

These party potatoes were amazing! I loved the crispy outside and the fluffy inside. The herbs and spices were perfect, and the potatoes were cooked to perfection. I will definitely be making these again!

These potatoes were a bit bland. I think I would have preferred them if they had been seasoned with more salt and pepper.

These party potatoes were a bit too greasy for my taste. I think I would have preferred them if they had been baked instead of fried.

These party potatoes were a disappointment. The potatoes were not crispy at all, and the flavor was bland. I would not recommend this recipe.
