I have been making these baked beans since the 70's and have always gotten rave reviews. They are so easy to make. This recipe is big enough for a crowd but can be cut in half for a family dinner. They are good hot out of the oven or served cold. They are even better after sitting in the fridge for a few days. If you don't...

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb bacon, cut in to bite size pieces and cooked until crisp
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
2 can(s) 1-lb 15-oz pork and beans, drained
2 can(s) 15-oz kidney beans, drained
2 can(s) 15-oz butter beans, drained
2 large onions, chopped
1 1/2 c ketchup

Steps:

  • 1. Cook bacon until crisp, remove from pan and drain on paper towels. Saute onion in bacon fat until tender.
  • 2. Drain fat and, in same pan, add brown sugar, ketchup and onions together and stir to make a syrup. Add drained beans and cooked bacon to syrup mixture and mix well.
  • 3. Spray 13x9 casserole dish with Pam and add bean mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
