Old Fashioned Strawberry Shortcake with Sweetened Flavoured Whipped Cream image

This is the way my Mom used to make Strawberry shortcake, and I still do. Historically, strawberry shortcake was served when the wild strawberries ripened in the meadows. The shortcake was a rich biscuit dough baked in a round cake pan. This recipe was taken from Mrs. George Treadway's handwritten recipe book, dated 1898 and is now part of the historic collection in the museum at High River, Alberta.

I'm not a big fan of strawberry shortcake, but I have to admit that this recipe was pretty good. The shortcakes were moist and fluffy, and the whipped cream was light and airy. The strawberries were also very fresh and flavorful.

This strawberry shortcake was a disappointment. The shortcakes were dry and crumbly, and the whipped cream was grainy. The strawberries were also sour and bland. I don't know what went wrong, but I won't be making this recipe again.

This strawberry shortcake was just okay. The shortcakes were a little dry and the whipped cream was too sweet. The strawberries were fresh and flavorful, but they couldn't save the rest of the dish.
