Number Of Ingredients 7

1 onion
1 1/4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 c milk
3/4 c seasoned dry bread crumbs

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the oil in a deep-fryer to 365 degrees F.
  • 2. Seperate the onion slices into rings, and set aside. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 3. Dip the onion slices into the flour mixture until they are all coated; set aside. On another paper plate put the seasoned bread crumbs on it, set aside.
  • 4. Whisk the egg and milk into the flour mixture using a fork. Dip the floured rings into the batter to coat, then let drip a little.
  • 5. Transfer a few at a time to the seasoned bread crumbs, and coat the rings best you can with the bread crumbs.
  • 6. Fry a few at a time for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove to paper towels to drain, salt if you wish.

These onion rings were a disappointment. They were soggy and lacked flavor.

The onion rings were a bit greasy for my taste. I think I'll try baking them next time.

I love that this recipe uses buttermilk. It makes the onion rings extra crispy.

I've tried many onion ring recipes and this one is by far the best. The onion rings are always crispy and flavorful.

These onion rings were a flop. The batter didn't stick to the onions and they fell apart in the oil.

The batter was a bit too thick for my liking, but the onion rings were still tasty. I'll try using less flour next time.

Absolutely delicious! I used yellow onions and they came out so crispy and flavorful. The batter was perfect, not too thick or thin. My family loved them.
