Old-fashioned Country Beans image

1/2 lb bacon, cut in chunks
2 lbs green beans, cut in halves
2 onions, quartered
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 lb new potato, peeled

Steps:

  • Place bacon in large saucepan and cover with water; boil 20 minutes.
  • Add green beans, onions, salt, sugar and cayenne; boil 15 minutes.
  • Add potatoes; boil until potatoes are tender.
