Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake image

This is a cake my Mom use to make. It's so loaded with goodies, why bother with a frosting. This ones for you MOM!

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 3/4 c boiling water
1 c uncooked oatmeal
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c granulated sugar
1 stick butter
1 large eggs
1 3/4 c unsifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp cocoa
12 oz pkg. chocolate chips
3/4 c chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. Pour boiling water over oatmeal in mixing bowl of standard mixer. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add sugars and butter. Stir until butter has melted.
  • 2. Add eggs and mix well. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa. Add flour mixture to batter and mix well. Add you chips and nuts.
  • 3. Pour in a 13x9 pan and bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until cake tests done in center and toothpick comes out clean.
