Newfoundland Cod Cakes image

A dear "Newfie" friend used to make these for me and I love them. Cut back on the oil in the skillet for a skinny version. To be really authentic serve these cod cakes with baked beans. You may use left over mashed potatoes but they will produce a softer pattie. Just boil your potatoes and mash them with nothing added.

These cod cakes were a bit too greasy for my taste. I think I'll try baking them next time instead of frying them.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my cod cakes fell apart when I tried to flip them. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

These cod cakes were a hit with my family! They were crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. I served them with tartar sauce and lemon wedges, and they were perfect.
