This is an Amish Dutch traditional pie. I was trying to find this and came across it on a discussion forum. The modern version of an old Mennonite recipe uses a cake mix.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my pie didn't turn out very well. The crust was soggy and the filling was too runny.

This pie is very rich, so a little goes a long way. I would recommend serving it with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream.
