Momma's Sloppy Joes image

I don't know where my mother got this recipe but it's the best sloppy joes I ever had! Whenever I make it, it reminds me of her. Also the longer you leave this in the skillet or crockpot the better it tastes!

Categories     Beef

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 lb ground beef
1 c onion
1 can(s) 16 oz can of tomato sauce
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 c mustard
1/4 c ketchup
1/4 c sweet or dill relish (this can be eliminated if desired)

Steps:

  • 1. Brown ground beef in skillet. Drain grease and add other ingredients. Cook in skillet for 30 minutes or longer.
  • 2. You may put this in a crockpot on low for several hours, the longer time allowed for the ingredients to "marry" the better. Just make sure you check it from time to time and stir so it won't dry out

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my sloppy joes turned out really dry. I'll have to try this recipe again.

I've tried many sloppy joe recipes, but this one is by far the best. It's easy to make and always turns out delicious.

These sloppy joes were just okay. They weren't bad, but they weren't anything special either.

I'm not a big fan of sloppy joes, but these were actually pretty good. The sauce was flavorful and the meat was tender.

These sloppy joes were a disaster! The sauce was too runny and the meat was dry. I won't be making this recipe again.

The sloppy joes were easy to make, but the sauce was a bit bland. I added some extra spices and it was much better.

These sloppy joes were a little too sweet for my taste, but my kids loved them.

These sloppy joes were easy to make and turned out great! I used ground turkey instead of beef and they were still delicious.

These sloppy joes were a hit with my family! The sauce was tangy and flavorful, and the meat was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be making this recipe again.
