This is a pie to make when you don't have apples but you have everything else. It is actually pretty good. You can also make it in a bar pan to make slices, just drizzle a little icing over the top. This is a very old recipe of my great grandmother Sullivan who had 15 children... She knew how to feed them and keep them...

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can(s) (16-ounces) applesauce
1 sleeve of crackers broken up
1 c brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon, ground
1 large lemon (juice and zest)
1/3 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  • 2. Pour the apple mixture into an unbaked pie shell. Dot the top with butter (about a half a stick). Put a top crust on. Make slits in top for steam to escape.
  • 3. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 35 minutes. Or until bubbly and golden brown. Be watchful so it doesn't burn.

This recipe is not vegan because it uses butter.

I'm allergic to nuts, so I'll have to omit the walnuts from this recipe.

This recipe seems a bit too sweet for my taste.

I'm not sure about using Ritz crackers in the crust, but I'm willing to give it a try.

This mock apple pie is a great way to use up leftover graham crackers and Ritz crackers.

I've made this pie several times now and it's always a hit. It's so easy to make and it tastes just like apple pie.

This is a great recipe for those who are allergic to apples or just don't like them. The pie filling is still delicious and flavorful, and the crust is flaky and buttery.

I was skeptical at first, but this mock apple pie turned out amazing! The crust was crispy and the filling was gooey and flavorful. My family loved it and couldn't believe it was made without apples.

This mock apple pie recipe is a game-changer! Who would have thought that graham crackers and Ritz crackers could create such a flaky, buttery crust? And the filling was spot-on, with just the right balance of sweetness and tartness.
