Mimi's Pecan Pie Bars image

Another recipe that it seems everyone has. This is a holiday dish.

BASE LAYER
1 box yellow cake mix, reserve 2/3 cup for filling
1/2 c butter, softened
1 large egg, beaten
FILLING
2/3 c reserved yellow cake mix
1/2 c brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 c white corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla
3 large eggs, beaten
1 c pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 325. Butter and flour 9 x 13 pan. Combine cake mix, butter and egg. Press into 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  • 2. Combine reserved cake mix and remaining filling ingredients. Pour over partially baked base layer.
  • 3. Continue baking 30-35 minutes. Cool. Cut into bars.
