Mexican Chili image

This recipe was given to me by a co-worker at Texas A&M University about 1978. We make it every year and it is definitely a family favorite in cool weather. Enjoy.

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 lb ground beef cooked
1 c onion chopped
3 Tbsp oil
2 can(s) 6 oz tomato paste
2 can(s) tomatoes, canned and chopped, with liquid
2 can(s) water
2 clove garlic mashed
1 Tbsp chili powder (or to taste)
1 tsp cumin ground
1/2 oz unsweetened chocolate
2 can(s) pinto beans
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Place all ingredients in large Dutch oven and simmer 3 hours. I like to use the crock pot on low for the day.
