Ma's Mincemeat Bars image

My mom loved to bake, the problem was my 4 brothers that ate everything as soon as it came out of the oven. My sister and I were lucky enough to at least get the recipes, and this was one of her favorits at the holidays. Hope you enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 c rolled oats
1 3/4 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 c brown sugar
1 c shortening
1 1/2 c mincemeat

Steps:

  • 1. Rub the Oats through your hands until they become fine, and then measure.
  • 2. Add flour, soda and brown sugar, mix well.
  • 3. Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly,then divide into 2 parts.
  • 4. Pack half of it firmly on the bottom of greased 9x13 pan.Spread Mincemeat evenly on top.Add remaining mixture and pack firmly.Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes.
