Make-Ahead Cheesy Garlic Bread image

This was inspired by SaraFish's Recipe #18914 (highly recommended). I've adjusted a few ingredients and transformed it into a make-ahead recipe that you can keep on hand in your freezer for a quick side to spaghetti, etc.

Time 20m

Yield 12 large pieces of garlic bread, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 French rolls (sandwich size)
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 -3 garlic cloves
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
ground black pepper (to taste)
1 cup shredded cheese, divided (I use mozzarella, parmesan and a little bit of cheddar)
dried parsley

Steps:

  • Split sandwich rolls in half lengthwise and set aside.
  • Place peeled garlic cloves into food processor and pulse a few times to mince.
  • Add softened butter, garlic powder, black pepper, and half of the cheese. Process mixture until smooth and fluffy.
  • Spread generously onto each sandwich roll. Place rolls face up on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle remaining cheese onto the rolls, pressing down to make it stick. (note: you can process all the cheese with the butter, if you want. It works either way.).
  • Sprinkle rolls with dried parsley.
  • Cover and freeze until firm, then store in sealable freezer bags.
  • When ready to bake, take out the number of frozen rolls you want to serve, and bake at 450°F for about 7-10 minutes until cheese is melted and lightly browned around the edges.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my cheesy garlic bread didn't turn out at all. The bread was undercooked and the cheese was clumpy.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my cheesy garlic bread turned out burnt. I'm not sure what went wrong.

This cheesy garlic bread was a disappointment. The bread was dry and the cheese was bland. I won't be making it again.

I thought this cheesy garlic bread was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. I probably wouldn't make it again.

This cheesy garlic bread was a bit too cheesy for my taste, but it was still good. The bread was nice and fluffy, and the garlic butter was flavorful.
