These cookie bars were a little too crumbly for my taste. I think I would add an extra egg yolk to the dough next time.

I made these cookie bars in a 9x13 inch pan instead of an 8x8 inch pan. They turned out great, but they were a little thinner than I would have liked.

I'm allergic to nuts, so I substituted the almonds in this recipe with chopped walnuts. They turned out just as good!

These cookie bars were a little too sweet for my taste, but I think that's just a matter of personal preference. I would recommend using less sugar if you prefer a less sweet dessert.

The only thing I would change about this recipe is to add a little more almond extract. I love the flavor of almonds and I think it would really complement the cherries.
