Number Of Ingredients 9

4 C. flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
pinch salt
1 C. Butter
1/2 C Crisco
1 C. half & half cream
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Mix the dry ingredients together. Cut in the butter and Crisco as for pie crust. Mix the last three ingredients and add, making a dough. This needs to be of rolling consistancy, so add a bit of flour or liquid if needed. Roll dough into a rectangle, approximately 5" wide and as long as you want to do it for easy handling. Cut each piece about 2" wide and drape over a krokaner pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned. Frost with 7 minute frosting.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my krokaner turned out flat and chewy. I think I might have overmixed the batter.

I had a little trouble getting the krokaner to hold their shape, but they still tasted great. I think I'll try using a different type of flour next time.
