JUNGLE BIRD

This tiki drink, believed to have been invented at the Kuala Lumpur Hilton in 1978, has recently lurched from obscurity to ubiquity. It is a favorite among mixologists, and a natural for home bartenders, because it contains only five ingredients: rum, Campari, pineapple and lime juices and simple syrup. The New York bartender Giuseppe Gonzalez tweaked the original, replacing dark Jamaica rum with the more intense blackstrap rum.

I'm not usually a fan of Campari, but it really works in this cocktail. The bitterness balances out the sweetness of the pineapple and lime juices perfectly.

Not bad! I thought the Campari was a bit too strong for my taste, but overall it was a good cocktail. I might try making it again with less Campari next time.

This cocktail is a tropical delight! The combination of pineapple, lime, and Campari is perfectly balanced, and the rum adds a nice kick. I garnished mine with a pineapple wedge and a cherry, and it looked as good as it tasted. Highly recommend!
