I learned to make this in a middle school home-ec class. The teacher called them "Captain Crunch Cookies" because when strawberry Jello is used they taste somewhat similar to Crunch Berries. These cookies taste better if you let them cool completely!

Steps:
- 1. Cream together the shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, salt, jello, baking powder and flour. Mix well until a soft dough forms. Roll into balls and place on a hot, greased, waffle iron. Close lid and bake for approximately 2 minutes. Times will vary with waffle makers. These cook faster than normal breakfast waffles.
