Jeanne's Easy Banana Pudding image

I am not normally one to use box mixes for short-cuts but this is really a very tasty and incredibly simple recipe. I taught it to my oldest grandaughter when she was @ 6 and she was so excited to make it for her Mom and Dad.

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lg box vanilla instant pudding
3 c milk
1/8 to 1/4 tsp salt (this really makes a difference)
1 sm container of whipped topping
1 bx vanilla wafers
3 or 4 bananas

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium bowl, mix the pudding mix, salt and milk until smooth. Let sit for @ 15 minutes.
  • 2. Gently fold in the Cool Whip until mixed.
  • 3. Place a layer of Vanilla Wafers on the bottom of an 8 x 8 square cake pan.
  • 4. Place a layer of sliced bananas on the wafers.
  • 5. Pour a layer of vanilla pudding over the wafers and bananas.
  • 6. Repeat these layers until all of the pudding has been used.
  • 7. Place a layer of vanilla wafers on top of the final layer of pudding.
  • 8. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 1 or 2 hours or until cooled and firmly set.
  • 9. Garnish each serving with whipped topping and a vanilla wafer.

This recipe was a waste of time. The banana pudding was bland and flavorless.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my banana pudding didn't turn out as creamy as I expected. I'm not sure what went wrong.

This recipe was a little too sweet for my taste, but it was still good. I think I'll try it again with less sugar next time.
