Japanese Cafeteria Spaghetti Sauce image

This is not Italian but it is very good - your kids will love it. I ate this almost every day in the cafeteria at work in Japan. I do not like most Japanese food and welcomed something that I sort of recognized.

1 lb hamburger
1 (16 ounce) can sloppy joe sandwich sauce
1 (16 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 pinch dried fennel
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger.
  • Prepare sloppy joe mix according to directions.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Simmer 30 minutes.
  • Serve over spaghetti topped with parmesan.
